My First Met Monday

Pic+for+Body+of+Blog3.jpg

Whoo Hooooo!!!! (there I go again!) :)

I'm excited to be participating in my very first one. I've been encouraged by so many of you, that I finally am taking the plunge! So thank you to Susan from Between Naps On The Porch for hosting this event and make sure you pop over to her blog and check out what everyone else has been up to!

I have two projects to share this week.

First is this old box. I found it at the Goodwill Store for $3.
As you can see, it's in really good condition. Just filthy.
The perfect size for what I needed it for!
Unfortunately, I don't have "during pictures,
but I do have "after" pictures.

This is the front . . .

And this is the back.
I gave it a good sanding, primed it and then painted
it in the same paint I painted my workroom.
Added the ribbons and embellishments and Voila!
And now it works perectly to hold all my different
remotes, misc. tools and adhesives.
I love this goofy little box. And it does it's job - it makes me smile!

Next is a beat up old chalkboard I found at, again,
the Goodwill. $3. I tell ya, you just can't go wrong for that price!

It had been used and abused and was scratched,
the back had stickers all over it and the
chalkboard was gouged.
No worries!!

I covered up the chalkboard part, sanded, primed and painted it . . .
and then gave the chalkboard part a nice fresh coat of chalkboard paint.

And now it sits on our Baker's Rack which is located
directly in front of the interior garage door.
I change the message according to whatever I feel like,
whether it be "Welcome Home" or Happy Birthday!"
I love chalkboards. They make me smile!

So that is my quick first Met Monday. I've already posted all my big projects, so don't want to do them again, so I think I need to get busy on some new ones!

Everyone have a great day!

i especially like the chalkboard. i like the idea of writing new messages on it for different ocassions.

I love these, especially the first project! I once saved the silverware caddy from an old dishwasher - for my paintbrushes. It was so ugly that i never used it. Your craft holder is cute and functional - and I love that green color!

Well...shoot and be darned! That is just the cutest little tool tote ever! You did more than a fantastic job on it! AND, no one has one like it...that's the part I really do love! Your colors and bits of whimsy are just darling!

Now..the chalk board. You did everything so right! The priming..everything..and it is perfect. You would have paid a mint for it at some store and I doubt it would have been half as good quality! NICE!
You did wonderfully!! Congratulations on your first Met Monday!!
I have no place for a chalk board in my itsy kitchen..but how nice it would be to have one..and one JUST like that one!
