New "Old" Book Treasure Finds

I have been searching and searching for these for over a year. I had to find just the right one! And to find BOTH of them on my trip was OUTSTANDING! Coralie from A Vintage Cottage Home (LOVE her blog! Go visit her. It is just wonderful!) had posted an old picture of her siblings reading this book and I just had to dig mine out of where I have them safely packed away for the trip home to share them with all of you!

The few pictures that are in it are outstanding!

I found them at two different antique stores. When I found the Little Men,
I swear the entire store must've thought I found a gold mine! I was so excited.
When I took it up to the counter, the gal looked at it
and said "What's Little Men?"
GASP!
"You've never read Little Men?"
"Never heard of it."
(And this woman works in an Antique Store???? HELLO!!!!!!)
"It's a continuation of Little Women. It's all about Jo's boys."

Sooooo happy to have found those.

Then I found my NUMBER ONE SEARCH FOR book. WHOOHOOOO!!!!

It is gorgeous. Of course I no more found this when Joy called
me from a podunk antique store in Montana and says,
"I found your Heidi and your Five Little Peppers!"
"BUY THEM!!!"
She'll give them tome when we get home.

Doesn't this look fun? Full of all kinds of Hospitality tricks
and good old-fashioned recipes!

I can't wait to read this one!

Found these two cute doll books

And some wonderful old post cards. I would buy them all
if I could afford to. I just love the vintage cards!
I must've bought 2 dozen of them on this trip. YAY!

I couldn't resist this little girl. Doesn't she look just happy as can be?

Well that's it for now. Today is our last day of vacation. We are taking the boys into Durango to go plane-gliding (very fun! We did it last summer when we were here) and to roam the streets and shops. Then early tomorrow we are on the road for home. We'll get home Sunday night. I'm ready. The walls are just starting to close in on me in this coach. I'm ready to sleep in a king size bed again, and have my own washer and dryer at my disposal. :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow Karen, I didn't know you were so into books like that! You've found some awesome ones, especially since they were on top of your list!
Will you still love me if I told you that I've never read Little Women...and I had no idea about Little Men either??? Come on...don't ditch me now....*wink
Seriously, I haven't got a clue!
However, I'm in love with the covers on the other books!!!
I hope you have a safe trip home, I'm totally feelin' you about your comfort zone. Traveling the country is fun, but there's no place like HOME!
You still love me right????
;)

Hi Karen,
My dear, what great finds! I love those books, the pictures do look fabulous! I've read Little Women but not Little Men, although I've heard of it. The Heidi book is another good one! I am so glad you've had a wonderful trip but you sound like Dorothy now, cause there's no place like home~ Miss Ya, Cindy

Well, Karen, I have to confess. I've never heard of Little Men. (Or I don't remember it) I love old post cards too, and have a few in my collection. The kids always buy me post cards of their travels cause they never know what to bring home as a souvenier to me.
You've had a great vacation and I hope all of you have a safe trip home.

Those books are fabulous Karen. I never knew about "Little Men"! Heidi was one of my favorites. Such a sweet story. I also thought the girl's photo looked like Shirley Temple a little bit!

Hi Karen! What great finds! I had that same copy of Heidi. Now I am wondering what happened to it! Maybe you bought it! lol My elderly aunt always buys old photos when she sees them and calls them her adopted family. I'm hoping we won't all be wondering who in the world those people are one of these days! Happy weekend...Debbie

Love your book finds! Both my husband and I love old books. We probably have about 30 books that are 100+ years old. I was just gazing at a book on German Grammar late last evening. And I LOVE Little Women.....totally one of my favorite movies, but have never actually read the book yet; however I do have it in my library. So...can't wait to read it! You've inspired me! :) Welcome Home! ~CC Catherine

Great, great book finds! I have an old Little Women book that I cherish!
P.S. I can't believe you saw a Bernese dog while you were out and about! You should've snagged it up for me - ha,ha~! I think 80 lbs is big! Scout's mom is about 85 - I think Scout won't get bigger than 90 but we'll see. Her paws are enormous!

I love the books, the dishes and neat things you have found.
We have a Texas Roadhouse here and love it.
Have a safe trip home.
