Finishing My Journal . . .

Sigh. I'm done.

I finished the last 4 pages today. Now all I have left to do is the box to keep it in - which I still have to find.

I loved these last 4 pages. It took me a while to get going on them - I think I was trying so hard to stick with what Heather had given us to work with - which once again, just didn't work out on my small book. I finally came up with an idea, tore my studio apart looking for just the right elements and - Voila! I hope you enjoy taking a peek at this. I had the most wonderful time doing it - even though the last 2 pages were done through a river of tears. But that's what love does, right? I lost my Daddy when I was 8 and my Mom when I was 40. I don't think I had either one of them long enough . . . sometimes life just doesn't seem fair. But . . . God has his reasons and that is OK. Things turned out a little soggy and blurry, but hey! I got it done!

Let Us Be Friends pages

Blessed Family pages

My grandparents and my Mom.

I love Mom's little shoes!!!

The final two pages were left up to us.
I continued with the Blessed Family theme.
I do not have a good photo of my parents wedding.
It is very faded . . .

My Mother - My Best Friend

This is a scanned copy of a plaque I have.
Written on the back are the names and dates of when
it was passed down from generation to generation.
It was first given to my great-grandmother in 1886,
who passed it to my Grandma, who passed it to my Mom.
My Mom left it to me. I got it when she died in 1998.
I wish I had a daughter . . .
Guess it'll go to first-born granddaughter.
(PLEASE GOD . . . bless me with a granddaughter!)

All done! Wow!

What an awesome project. And Heather was just the BEST instructor!
Now I have to go find a box . . . and decorating it will be the last step.

I hope I don't get called in for jury duty tomorrow. I'd love to get this done!!!

Have a great day! It's BEAUTIFUL here in So Cal. This is what California is known for!!!
Of course, I'd rather it be raining or . . . even better - snowing! (Fat chance!)

Karen, it turned so pretty. I'm sure it brought back wonderful memories.
Your Mom was a very pretty lady. My Mom is still with us. She was born in 1925. I think that is close to when your Mom was born. Maybe a couple years difference.
Glad you enjoyed making your sweet book.

Great Karen, my computer is about to short circuit because my keyboard is so full of tears! Your journal is so beautiful but even more so, so personal and so touching! I love the idea that your Mom and Dad were married on New Year's Day! And that the card was handed down to each generation! Wow! They may be gone but you have some wonderful memories. Your beautiful journal is just the perfect place to keep those memories alive!
Love ya!

Karen, your journal is stunning. It is such a blessing to capture all the memories and pictures in one place for family history. I know the Lord will surely bless you with a little girl. I had 11 grandsons, and then finally a little girl, so keep praying. He is so faithful. Hugs, Marty

This is a real treasure you made, maybe we should teach this kind of stuff to our children. Making a journal of love to pass to the next generation - or am I dreaming...

What a lovely special keepsake...I love the plaque that is handed down thru the generations. My mil has given my daughter a heart locket that she was given by her grandmother who got it from her grandmother. Its sweet and I hope my daughter has a granddaughter to share it with as well.

Thanks for sharing your journal.
Sending hugs your way today...

Karen, your journal is SO gorgeous!!! i think it is beautiful that you used your family photos to make your journal special for you...everything you added to your pages just adds to how lovely they are...good luck with your box might want to take a look at "google shopping" and search for rectangular box...i saw several there when i was looking, but they were too small for have a smaller book, so they might work for you...also there are a lot of sellers on etsy with vintage cigar boxes, one of those the right size would be fantastic!!!

The journal looks awesome. I wish I had a creative flair.

I promise to get your gift card out to you soon. I realized this weekend that I have 42 cent stamps and now it costs 44 cents to mail something... USPS is not my friend right now. Cheers.

I've finished my journal, but I too had a time finding a box. Finally got one, so I'm starting on it. Again, I love all the details in your journal.

How did I miss this post?? I think next time Heather does a workshop she needs to have a blinking red light at the top of her instructions that starts flashing whenever someone posts their work lol...

These pages are so beautiful, and I love how you've personalized them with your cherished family pics. That plaque is amazing - makes me think I'd like to start a tradition like that in my own family!

You did lose them too soon. But you also obviously cherish the time you had - I hope the good memories continue to bring you much joy throughout your days :)
