Doors of Welcome!

December 15th
The finale!

Well Good Morning! You must be here for the December Doors of Welcome that Karen is hosting here at Some Days Are Diamonds. Karen has had such a delightful time with this party. Thank you so much for visiting. But . . . you are here a little early . . . I mean, you've kind of caught us without our lights on! How embarrassing!

Well, you can go on up to the door, but I don't think
they are up yet - you probably can't get in. But you can take a quick peek,
and then I know they would appreciate you coming back this evening.

Hi! We're Jorja and Harley!

The reindeer were right, the rest of the family isn't up yet.
Bt we'll let you in for a quick daytime peek at the entry.
Just be very quiet . . . and then you'll have to go!

Trust us! Things look much brighter here at night!!

GASP! uh-oh!! I hear someone up! OH NO!

You gotta go! Hurry. See you tonight!

("Whew! that was a close one Jorja . . . ")

WELL HELLO AGAIN! You're back! We're glad.
(you know we are glad because the doe raises her head up and down!)
Now you can enjoy all the pretty lights.

We look much better lit up - don't you agree?

We thought we'd tell you a funny little story to start off your tour.
When Mark, Karen and the boys first moved into this house,
they couldn't wait to decorate for Christmas. They lined the
all the eaves and with icicle lights. It was really, really scarey
being that high off the ground! Karen even hung a
huge wreath over the door that lit up. It was gorgeous. Justin
laid white lights all around the perimeter of the grass and it kinda
looked like snow. It was so pretty!
Unfortunately, they soon discovered that you can't see their
house from their street.  So all their work (and a $350 electric bill)
was visible only to someone who parked directly in
front of the house or came to the door.
Needless to say - that the was the first and the last time
they put up all those outside lights.

But they still put them inside the house!

Please watch your step - and pardon the cords.
(Mark says there really is no other way.)

(I know - there is another cord. Please don't tell Karen you saw it . . .)

She's very proud of her "drums" this year.
Don't tell her I told you, but they are really
just upside-down velvet baskets.

OK you may go on in. The entry is all part of the tour.

To the left is the living room . . .

straight ahead is the dining room . . .

OK just peek around the corner down the hall -
yup! There is Karen's $50 hutch. But more
on that another day.

Karen's Father Christmas's line the stairs.
Oh - by the way? Don't forget to look

UP!

(uh-oh forgot about those darn slippers again!)

Well, this concludes your tour of Karen's Doors of Welcome. If you would kindly leave a comment in the comment box, and let her know how both the dogs and us Reindeer did guiding you, we'd sure appreciate it.  She wasn't too sure about giving us the job, but we figured hey, if those little black and orange birds, and a turkey can do it - we certainly can!

I know Karen wants to give special thanks to each and every person who participated. And thank you for everyone who has visited.  It's really been a fun time for all!

Now head on down the list and see all there is to see!

Merry Christmas!!

I love your cute little hosts, Karen! And what an awesome staircase you have! The lights are so pretty. Very creative with those drums. We'd never have known what they were if your little munchkins didn't tell us! Thanks for hosting. And you have a welcome so very fitting for the occasion.

O Harley,
O Jorja!
Dear reindeer too!!!!
Ya'll have done such a beautiful job as tour guides, Miss Karen would be soooo proud of the hospitality you've shown us!!! In all that beauty, I didn't even notice the electrical cords but I did think the slippers were left for me at the bottom of the stairs. I was hoping I could make myself comfy in that beautiful home of yours! Speaking of stairs...my goodness those are prettier than the ones from Gone With the Wind! Simply beautiful!
What? did I hear someone? I hear giggling...and glasses...is that..Is that Karen and Lillian cutting up? Having a glass of wine? What? NO FAIR! If I would have known that, I'd have stayed even longer!!!!!
I loved the tour and thank you ALL for letting me come along...
ENJOYED IT~

Hi Karen,
Your house looks amazing inside and out. I can see why you have so many tubs for Christmas. You have so many beautiful things.

Hi Karen. Jorja, Harley and the reindeer did a great job but I missed you! I haven't been by in a while and was hoping to chat.

I really enjoyed snooping around the house while you were out. Jorja and Harley said if I bring dog biscuits I can come for dinner in that fabulous dinning room!

Now that staircase is a perfect place for a Christmas tree, as long as Santa sticks to the hot cocoa and nothing stronger. Wouldn't want him doing a back flip over the rail while putting gifts out!

Remember the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future? Well, they forgot one ~ the gohst of Christmas procrastination. You can see her erethral image in my door of welcome if you look close enough! LOL! I made it though! Still didnt' get the door painted or the screen fixed so I'm afraid you'll just get a glimpse...

Thank you for hosting this wonderful mini-series. It has been so much fun seeing how everyone welcomes family and friends during the holiday season.
Christmas Hugs,
Dawn

What an incredibly beautiful home you have, Karen & you've done an outstanding job of decorating it, too. I actually gasped when I saw that tree at the top of the staircase.....SPECTACULAR!!!

I'm sorry I didn't get to participate in this month's Doors of Welcome. My husbands heart attack on the 1st has halted all decorating & photos. We're just taking things one day at a time right now.

Thanks for this lovely glimpse into your home & for hosting the gathering, too.

Wow, everything looks gorgeous! You need to hire yourself out and decorate homes for the holidays...just beautiful. The tree on the upstairs landing is such a wonderful unexpected surprise. I've really enjoyed checking out everyone's decorations. I've been embarrassed at my own, which is why I've backed out these last two times. If you host next year, I will try and do better. This has been a great idea and fun to follow. Merry Christmas!
P.S. The reindeer, plus Jorja and Harley, were fantastic tour guides.

And tell you Mommy you both were very good little tour guides.
Be a sweetie,
