A Swap and Some Are Still Rushing!

I just had to share with you that there are several Bloggerettes who just completed their "Rush" projects! Please go over and welcome them and check out their projects!!! Their links are on the Sorority list on the sidebar. You might have to scroll down a day or two - I'm a little behind with the Holiday weekend and all.

NOW! I'm so excited!  This swap has been "brewing" for several months. Way back before I went to Savannah, Julia from Vintage with Laces asked me if we could do a private swap. I was thrilled and then Jodie from Everything Vintage joined in also. I know Jodie has already opened both of ours so I thought today would be a good day to post my swap with Julia. :)

The first thing I noticed were the BEAUTIFUL
postage stamps on the outside of the box!
A handmade little name tag for me :)
Took the peanuts out (pink ones by the way!) . . .
I was so excited. Everything was wrapped so cute!
A handmade pillow.
The laces Julia uses are just TO DIE FOR!
The front . . .
The back!
awwwwwwwwww . . .
I am embarrassed to say - I had no clue
what this was. I even asked Mark!
So I Emailed Julia - admitted my ignorance
and she told me `
"Such copper stencils had been used to mark linen
with a blue powder that would wash out after the
girls or ladies had embroidered their monograms
onto pillows, sheets, towels etc.
They are probably from around 1920 and do not
only come in cross stitch
but in all kinds of fonts as well."
Now what are the odds she'd find my initials?
Some vintage playing cards - they are so pretty!
and look at the font!
Julia printed off lots of vintage "girls"
onto fabric for me to use in future projects!
(I've only used one so far- but I'm slowly
getting over my hoarding sickness. :) )
LOVE THESE! Oh my gosh.
They are very tiny as you
can tell by the size of the print on the
paper they are laying on - but they are
my very first "frozen charlotte" doll heads!
Old tickets . . . love these!
Look at all the wonderful embroidery"pieces".
I know they have a proper name . . .
but I can't remember what it is.
Look at the pink rick rack! :)
And the little bags of buttons (sigh)
And my very special clothespins.
and she made me the flowers (BIG GRIN!)
I almost died when I opened this cup and saucer -
it's very tiny so I believe that makes it a
demitasse cup. Look at the GOLD! (swoon)
A wonderful assortment of German papers.
And an old German book.
The book is about the women figures
who appear in the famous literature and poems
of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
It has beautiful illustrations!
Now the next gift made me cry . . .
It is totally hand sewn by Julia.
She had asked for pictures of my Mom . . .
so I suspected something . . . but
She printed off pictures of my Mom onto fabric.
I cannot even begin to count the beautiful pieces
of lace and trims she used throughout this book.
You remember this shot?
Each left side page has a pocket
Mom with my youngest son, Justin
New Years Eve 1988 - almost 1989!
He was 10 days old.
Love this shot of my Mom. :)
And the back cover . . . sigh.
Yup. I cried big time!
How awesome is that?
Julia, there are just no words.
Thank you. (sob) Thank you!
All of it is just beautiful.

I will post what I sent Julia in a few days! :)
Thanks for looking!
Have a great evening!

Hi Karen Sweetie...
I am so thrilled to be rushing for your precious sorority. I am still under lock down with my lungs and have not been able to get out and buy ink for the printer. I hope you can be patient with me. I see there are still others rushing too.
I go back to see the doctor this Friday and I am hoping he is going to cut me lose. I can't wait to be free from the house at least. It has been 2 1/2 months and I am going nuts. I promise to make my project as soon as I can print the photo.

Wow did you ever hit it big time with this wonderful swap. I love all your lovlies, especially the albumn with all the laces. Such a special gift sweetie.

Hope your 4th was great. We had all the kids here. Was really nice.

Have a great week sweetie. I will post soon. Country hugs, Sherry

This is a fabulous swap Karen. I can't believe all the wonderful things in the pics. As I was reading through your post I was thinking that this pic is my favorite and then the next one would pop up and I thought that one was my favorite. Pretty soon I just decided that I loved everything! Thanks for sharing it all with us!!!

Even better than Christmas!
And this post had the power to move me to get started on a few more (as if I need to start more) projects. If it has the power to get me to complete some projects.
Interesting about the blue powder stencils.
Thank you for including my link. I was unable to do the first project (for several reasons I won't bore you with) but I will move that to a priority position on my to-get-done list.

Hey sweet Karen!
WOW! What an amazing album Julia created. It's definately a gift from the heart and makes me REALLY miss my Mom. I may need to make me one similar...except I'm short on the talent that Julia has!
Pictures can really be worth a thousand words and no-one can take the place of Mom can they?
Have you ever heard it said that we become our Mothers? I think there is some truth to that! I have a plaque of an old lady wearing a funny hat on the guest room door hook that reads "If it's not one's your mother." LOL. I'm sure my son in law & daughter in law will LOL too.
I agree with Rebecca from Our Back Porch..."I can't wait to see what you sent her!" I'm SURE something VERY beautiful.
