And the Rains Came...

As I sit here at my computer
I am listening to the rain
pounding on the roof.

I am having the most wonderful day.
It has been raining for 3 solid days.

 Today and all last night
was the hardest .
It never let up.
 We are a little flooded . . .
but I just love, love
the sound of the rain.
I could watch it for hours.
I sat in the living room this
morning, drinking my coffee
and looking at my tree.
It is a big one!
It is the only
one I put up this year.
I really do love it.
Year after year, subtle little
changes here and there.
I still love it.
So does Mark! :)

My girlfriend Sandy's daughter
is having her first baby today!
We are on baby standby!
Go HOLLY!!!!

I got some wrapping done today.
I only have a few more gifts to buy.
I baked my first batch of
gingerbread cookies! YUM!
I have a big pot of Carmelized
Onion and Shitake Mushroom
soup on the stove.
Smells Heavenly in here.

A fire in the fireplace...
Christmas music on...
and it's raining. Still.

Life is good!
Merry Christmas everyone!

What a blessing that your friends daughter is having a baby at Christmas Time, How Lovely! I'm sending lots of prayers their way! Your tree is SPECTACULAR!!! LOVE IT!!! Oh and the rain, I would tell you "You may need to build an ARK", BUT that's a WHOLE different biblical story and NOT the one we are centering on this "Beautiful Christmas Week"!!! Merry Christmas to you and yours,
Hugs, Donna

It's been raining here in Vegas too. My daughter took my granddaughter to Disneyland this weekend for her birthday...rained all day long.
Merry Christmas to you and Mark. (and the boys too).

Karen, what a glorious tree!!!! I can smell the soup and just imagine how wonderful it must taste!!!! Seems strange to think of rain as the snow piles up over here.....I do like the freshness the rain brings!
How exciting for your friend to be having a Christmas baby!!!

Rain??? I love a nice rainy day too, but not in December??? That would be against all of nature here in the Dakotas! I look out my window and when the snowflakes are floating straight down, it's a good day! What fun to be awaiting a birth this close to Christmas, blessings to the family! Your tree is beautiful! Have a great holiday season, I'll send you some snow flakes!

Karen...I am so with you. I am sitting here at my desk...typing away listening to the rain on the skylight above my head. Same here, raining for the past three days and I love it. It is my favorite kind of weather. Like you I love my tree. It's rather smaller than usual but the house smells wonderful.
If it keeps up we will have to call our yard, Ingalls Lake.
Isn't it grand?? :) I loved your post! Merry Christmas and happy baby watching! What a great season to be born! :)

Oh karen I LOVE your tree...my gosh, how tall is it?? You obviously have wonderfully high ceilings! lol...well, in that part of your house anyway! Ours is 7'8" and I don't think I"ve seen much larger for sale here...(manmade, not 'real'!)...truly fabulous. I'd love to see pics of other areas of your house if you've decorated??? We have had heavy, heavy rain too which I love the sound of, but it's meant to be SUMMER so I have mixed feelings about it!! lol...
Anyway, have a lovely Christmas! blessu heaps

Sounds wonderful!!!! I LOVE your tree. I wanted to do gold & silver this year but, the GRANDS are coming & I told Hubby I need to do it geared toward them. They are growing up so fast that we need to do the magical as long as they care. There's plenty of time for gold & silver later. Hope you'll stop by to see mine too. Send some of that rain to us! We need it sooooooooo badly but, you guys are really having a lot & it sounds like it is starting to cause a few problems. Stay safe. HUGS!

All of it sounds devine! I too love the rain - all my friends think I am nuts but there is nothing as soothing as listening to the rain as it falls. Hmmmm, soup sounds yummy too, don't suppose you would like to share that recipe? hmmm? Well and the tree and the fireplace, ok I am sold, when can I come over for a visit? :D
You are sounding much better from a few posts ago...I am very glad!
Happiest of Holidays,
Hugs Sorority Sister,

Oh, I just revamped my blog, yes, again so if you would like to stop by for a visit that would be lovely.

No matter how much it rains, looking at that beautiful tree will make up for the wet weather. We are having really bad snow here in the UK with -10. I am just busy indoors getting ready for the big day. Happy Holidays

Karen, your tree is amazing! I dread to think how long it must have taken you to decorate it. I couldn't have done it, lol, I hate ladders, surely you must have used a ladder? Your ornaments are so precious.

That is one beautiful large tree. If I were you I would sit and look at it too. I do my trees, but they are much smaller.
