Sharing Our "Doors of Welcome" - A Mini-Series

Well, tomorrow is September 1st.
Autumn is right around the corner.

Our thoughts are turning to cooler days
and beautiful fall colors.

The leaves will soon begin to turn.
The apple are ready for picking.
Hot spiced cider and cozy evenings
spent in front of the fireplace
are right around the corner.
And we begin to ready our homes
for the Holidays.

Please join me as we share our

"Doors of Welcome"
And actually - it's a mini-series!

Deck out your door for the season and share it with us!
It needn't be your front door -
Show us your favorite door that says "Welcome!" best.

On October 15th, we will share our
"Autumn Doors of Welcome"

Whether decked out for goblins
or just the glorious colors of Autumn,
join us to celebrate the season.

Then on November 15th, we will share our
"Thanksgiving Doors of Welcome".

And finally on December 15th, we'll all share our
"Christmas Doors of Welcome".

Sound like fun? To participate in the "Autumn Doors of Welcome" just leave me a message on this post with your name, along with the name and address of your blog.  I will add you to the link list on my sidebar, showing everyone who is going to be participating.  And if you know now that you want to join in on the fun for all three parties - tell me so and you'll only need to sign up once!

Please help me promote the event! The more the merrier and the way people hear about us is going to be through your blog too, so a post on your blog about the party would be awesome.  I have a button in the works and will post it when it's ready. Then you can grab it and we'll be on our way!!!

I hope everyone feels as excited about this mini-series as I do. I can't wait to see all the wonderful, wonderful "Doors of Welcome" all of you will share! I think this should be a very fun event!

Thanks everyone!

Roosters Galore!

Whoo hoooo!!!!!! This should be a hoot! A whole bunch of people toting their Roosters out to share. I think this is such a good idea for a fun party! Thanks go to the super sweet Barb from her blog Bella Vista for thinking this one up!!!! Please join her and see what other fabulous Roosters are out there ruling the Roost! (If the button doesn't work, scroll down my blogroll. You'll find her!)
I only have 3 of these guys, so it shouldn't take you too long to take a peek. Then you can move on over to the next Roost and see what's cookin'. (GASP! Did I say that?)
Enjoy all!
Let's start in the kitchen.

My sister gave me this guy for Christmas one year, gosh, a long time ago.
I think he is the best gift she's ever given me.
I just love him.
He keeps a watchful lazy eye on me when I'm in the kitchen.
Aren't his colors gorgeous? He's very proud of himself!
Then on the other side of the kitchen we have this little guy.
I found him at a little boutique a few years ago.

Isn't he precious? Kinda looking at me like "Don't even THINK about it Lady!"
Then as you walk in from the garage, I have the baker's rack.
This is our "dump" zone. Mail, keys, phones . . .
With this big guy hangin' out on the bottom shelf
keeping an eye on things.
Don't tell my boys, but he's kept me up to date on
their "late hours" shall we say, for the past several years.

"WHAT! Who me?"
I LOVE his feet!
WHOOPS! How did he get in here?
Finally, I have a coffee set that I've had for probably 15 years or so.

A different Rooster on each side.
And that my friends, is it from our roost. Thanks for visiting! And now I'm off to enjoy everyone else's fun posts! Thanks again Barb!!!!
Have a great day!!!

Home Sweet Home

Ahhhhh. Sigh. We're home.

I'm glad, but I'm sad. There is so much out there in this big, beautiful country that I want to see. And I want to see it all NOW! But, my life awaits. I'm just going to have to be patient and see it a little at a time.

Well the good news is, I LOST 1# while on vacation. The bad news is, my husband asked if the scale was broken. SMACK! Men!

This picture was the first thing I unpacked. Isn't she enchanting?
Don't you wonder what she's thinking about?

Anyhow, backing up . . . today I am digging through all of this

Yup, all that was under the bed in the motorhome. . .

And then I will have to figure out where their new homes are going to be.
(GASP! You see TWO dress forms!!! Nope, one isn't for me.)

I have to put all of this away . . .

and I just need to get organized again in this house.

It is BLAZING hot here today. Perfect time for me to
share a few more of my precious finds with you!

I cannot begin to describe how utterly GORGEOUS
this little teacup and saucer is.

And I literally squealed when I found this old bridesmaid's hat.

And this doilie is just beautiful. See the hat pin in it?
Shhhhhh - don't tell my sister-in-law Christie that
it is part of her Christmas present this year. If you enlarge it,
you'll see it is a pair of hands folded in prayer.

What is it with me and pictures of women?
I bought three on this trip. I just think they speak to me.
I would love to know who she is . . . where she
lived . . . did she have children?
This is a beautiful pencil drawing.

I found this cute little dress form.
Can't you just picture it with some BLING handing on it?

And this cute little picture holder!
As Joy would say, "Too stinkin' cute!"

And finally - who could resist this little bundle of joy?
I just want to gather her up for a big hug.
She looks ALOT like my Mom!

Maybe I should go run around the block and sweat off another pound, then I could brag to Mark I lost 2! (anyone who knows me - knows SWEATING IS NOT AN OPTION!) Gee it's only 103 outside! I cannot think of anything I am less likely to do than sweat! Well . . . except for these DOGGONE HOT FLASHES!!! Will they ever end?

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great evening everyone!!!

New "Old" Book Treasure Finds

I have been searching and searching for these for over a year. I had to find just the right one! And to find BOTH of them on my trip was OUTSTANDING! Coralie from A Vintage Cottage Home (LOVE her blog! Go visit her. It is just wonderful!) had posted an old picture of her siblings reading this book and I just had to dig mine out of where I have them safely packed away for the trip home to share them with all of you!

The few pictures that are in it are outstanding!

I found them at two different antique stores. When I found the Little Men,
I swear the entire store must've thought I found a gold mine! I was so excited.
When I took it up to the counter, the gal looked at it
and said "What's Little Men?"
"You've never read Little Men?"
"Never heard of it."
(And this woman works in an Antique Store???? HELLO!!!!!!)
"It's a continuation of Little Women. It's all about Jo's boys."

Sooooo happy to have found those.

It is gorgeous. Of course I no more found this when Joy called
me from a podunk antique store in Montana and says,
"I found your Heidi and your Five Little Peppers!"
She'll give them tome when we get home.

Doesn't this look fun? Full of all kinds of Hospitality tricks
and good old-fashioned recipes!

I can't wait to read this one!

Found these two cute doll books

And some wonderful old post cards. I would buy them all
if I could afford to. I just love the vintage cards!
I must've bought 2 dozen of them on this trip. YAY!

I couldn't resist this little girl. Doesn't she look just happy as can be?

Well that's it for now. Today is our last day of vacation. We are taking the boys into Durango to go plane-gliding (very fun! We did it last summer when we were here) and to roam the streets and shops. Then early tomorrow we are on the road for home. We'll get home Sunday night. I'm ready. The walls are just starting to close in on me in this coach. I'm ready to sleep in a king size bed again, and have my own washer and dryer at my disposal. :)

Have a great weekend everyone!
