Well this is not good timing for this to happen, right before Doors Of Welcome. But it seems any comments left on my posts since last weekend have not posted! I will try and figure this out - it HAS to have something to do with the comment moderator, but it was working . . . who the heck knows!!! Try and leave me a post and I'll see what happens!!! THNX!

A Dear Friend and a PRIZE!

Hello everyone! How is everyone doing? I have been BURIED in decorating my home for Christmas. But I think I have it just about done. There will always be little things here and there to change or add to. New special treasures you discover and absolutely MUST find a home for. It's very festive here and two of my three guys came home yesterday and were totally delighted in the transformation of our home. I love watching the looks on their faces.

Mieke, these are for you - just a hint . . .

If you recall a few weeks ago I made a whirlwind trip to Phoenix. I met up with all of the Arizona bloggers for a luncheon. There were 2 special reasons for me to make the trip.
One - to meet Cindy from Applestone Cottage who was in town from Wisconsin.
Two - to meet CeeKay from Thinkin' of Home.

I had put together a little surprise for CeeKay a few weeks prior to my visit, (at the time - not even knowing about their luncheon.) Well my surprise worked and I think she had a really fun time with it. But after getting to know someone so well, not only through her blog, but through all of her friends that Emailed me with tidbits of information about her, when Marty from A Stroll Through Life invited me to come over for the luncheon and that CeeKay was going to be there - how could I not jump at the chance.
We had a ball. But the time went much too quickly! We've could've talked all day and far into the night!

Anyway, about a week ago, a received a little package in the mail. Very exciting!! Hurriedly I opened it once I saw it was from Miss CeeKay! And inside - a very special little book she made just for me, something so precious, I will treasure it always!! I had sent her different things to make up an altered book journal for herself. Little pieces of paper and ribbons, vintage this and that. Just "stuff" for her to use. And this is what she made for me in return. Wow!

Very fun!   A "D" - for my last name.

And a special little note on the back cover from her.

Needless to say - this special book has earned a very special spot in my room.
(I'd show you- but my studio looks like a tornado hit it right now so . . . another time.)

CeeKay - I just adore you. But I think you know that by now. :)
Thank you for my special gift. I will treasure it always!

Then - yesterday I opened my mailbox again . . . and found . . .

$35 gift card to Cracker Barrel from Barb at Bella Vista.
OH MY GOODNESS! I won her giveaway!!
Thank you! Thank you! SO COOL!!!!
Barb, this is one of my favorite places . . . you just have no idea!
Maybe it is because we don't have them in California.

So needless to say - now that I have a gift certificate to Cracker Barrel . . . CEEKAY!!!! Let's do lunch soon! I drove right past that Cracker Barrel in your town, and . . . hmmmmm . . . there is a Hobby Lobby too . . . oh boy! Sounds like a road trip is planned for sometime soon!!! I think this time I'll bring the truck though, my car has kind of a small trunk . . .

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday and are quickly getting in the Christmas Spirit!!!

A Day of Thanksgiving

I can't believe Thanksgiving is here. The days and months and years are going by sooooo fast!

We celebrated our Thanksgiving last Sunday down at my In-Laws. What a great day. It was just a little hazy over the ocean . . .

Looking S/W. San Clemente Island should be right there. Too hazy.

Can you tell we need rain?

There was a big housing development planned for right next to them,
but they went bankrupt and this is what they left behind.
At least they still kept their view!
This is looking north, toward Laguna.

It really is a GORGEOUS view. Just not right now . . . sorry.
Back towards the house. We got married
right there where the fountain is now.

Here we are all! FIL took the picture. The only thing that
could've made this day more perfect was if my Mom
were in this picture too. She always came with us to my In-Laws.

My MIL decided to roast two smaller turkeys.
Mark did the honors.

Cleaning up. Boy! Everybody just INHALED!

Justin with his two little cousins, Zack and Evan.
They have more fun together!

Brandon and Gramma.

Mark's younger brother Chris and his adorable wife Christie.
If I could've hand-picked a sister-in-law,
I would've chosen Christie. I just ADORE her.
Chris almost dropped the cake when she grabbed him! LOL.
Yes, we were celebrating Chris' birthday this day too.

My MIL found these great Pilgrims at Tuesday Morning.

It's starting to clear up a little . . . I love this time of day.

Click on the picture and look at all the sailboats!

Tried to get a family shot for our Christmas card
but Chris kept making us crack up.

What a wonderful day. Thank you Lord, for my family and our good health.

My family leaves tonight for Glamis. I'll be home . . . alone . . . want a hint of what I'll be up to?

And this is only HALF of it.   :)

I hope everyone has a happy, peaceful and relaxing Thanksgiving. Be safe. God Bless.

Hmmmmmm . . .

Yup - creepy people out there. I have had to resort to comment moderation - and at first I didn't think it was working. But it is after all, (so "sorry" to a few of you who had posted comments and I had deleted the entire post.
But I can't have these kind of people with their dirty little minds messing with my blog.
HOW SAD IS THIS???!!!!!!
Welcome to blogland reality Karen . . . :(

Life in general . . .

Hi. I know - I've been away for so long. But I just wanted everyone to know I'm thinking of you.

I'm sharing a little plague I bought my Mom for her very last Autumn. I placed it on her bedside table so she could see it. She died when Fall was just beginning, but I wanted her to know I had decorated her house just like she always did. This is what she saw every time she woke up. Makes it pretty special to me.

It's getting close to TURKEY DAY!!!!! YAY!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

OK, I'm letting you know right here, that the following are the ramblings and mutterings of a tired woman. :) You have been warned. If you want to skip to the pictures, or skip it all together - I will understand!

I came home from my trip to Michigan - tired. I had just acclimated to the East Coast time and all of a sudden I have to transition back to Pacific Time. Why is this so hard for me? Everyone else seems to do it all the time with no problem whatsoever! What's with me??? I guess when you drive it, it just kind of happens slowly, but to fly - boy that threw me for a loop. So I've been in bed by 9 the last 2 nights (LOL - Geez I feel old!) and now am waking up before 6. Hmmmmm . . . I wonder how long this will last?

I also came home to "Hi Honey - Hi Mom! Bye Honey - Bye Mom" and off they went to Glamis to get a campspot for the week of Thanksgiving.  They will go back down on Tues. before Thanksgiving and come home the following Sunday and while they are gone, I will transform our house.

It's funny, a lot of people don't understand that I don't mind being home alone on Thanksgiving Day. We have our big Thanksgiving dinner the Sunday before at my in-laws, and that's really all I need. Well, other than a week - undisturbed - and left alone so that I can truly play with my house. While I was working for the interior designer, I got burned out fast on Christmas decor. (GASP! Did she just say what I think she just said?") YUP! BURNED OUT! Meaning after decorating and being around all of it since August - the last thing I wanted to do was decorate even one more house, not even my own. But I did, not all the way mind you, but I got the majority up - but it wasn't FUN the way it is supposed to be. You know - like lighting a fire in BOTH of the downstairs fireplaces (so I can see one from whatever room I'm in) throwing some cookies in the oven just so you can smell them, and blasting Kenny Rogers and Dolly Pardon's "A Christmas to Remember" and singing at the top of my lungs. Staying up until the wee hours of the morning working on whatever I feel like working on. Because once I get through the first day - which is pretty much all "fluffing" between 3 trees and the entire stairwell of garland, I love the rest of it. I treasure each and every item as I unpack. It's like a week of Christmas mornings for an entire week as I bring out old friends. Sigh. Soon.

Anyway - I'm rambling. Gee - do you think it's cause I'm tired?

I woke up this morning with a feeling of restlessness. A need to get somewhat more organized before Christmas hits me ( and my boss - OK - best friend - full on!). And I still am not satisfied with my studio. So . . . had an idea and while my house was empty, I pulled it off. Now I still want to paint - BADLY. I am so ready for a soft creamy pink, some ivory and maybe some black. But it's the layout that I just can't seem to come up with. So once again, I changed it around. LOL.

As of now - a work in progress.

The white on white is killin' me! I am not a white wall person.
And now with those white cubes in there - ugh!

Moved the tables to down the center of the room.
Kinda crowded - the jury is still out on this part.

But I do like being able to freely move about with no barriers.

LOVE having my sturdy worktable over here!
Now I can get the window opened so easily!

Course, I still need to find a place for my Printer's tray.
I just love this piece.
And the fact that it was already painted white -
AWESOME! Saved me a ton of time!
I don't know of a better way to categorize and store my "sparkleys".
Mark is going to make me a plexiglass top to keep the dust out. :)

Where did Mark's loveseat go you ask?
Here - to the guest room. It's goofy, I know.
But - I need the space!

I need to go through my ribbon. TONS of ribbon.
Three containers plus of ribbon. Sigh. I love ribbon.
Oh, and new Christmas stuff I found last year at half off . . .
Of course, not a single one of you knows what half off means . . .

And this is the Christmas wrapping paper that
doesn't fit into the box in the rafters.
I'm going to do my gift wrapping in here this year.

I think I like it - I just wish I could mount the tv on the wall somewhere. (I wonder if Mark could get that done one day this week.) I would really like to cover the walls in the closet with shelves and then close the entire space off with pretty lace curtains.  And I'd really like to get that secretary desk out of there! (kids!)
Course I still have this just DUMB little area under the window to deal with . . .

Hmmmmm . . . my brain is failing quickly. Too much to think about. Maybe more tomorrow . . . I'll warn you if I get going again . . .

Think I'll go play with my ribbon . . .

Doors of Welcome - Thanksgiving

Welcome! To the second "Doors of Welcome" for Thanksgiving. Please click on any of the Participants listed on my sidebar to see what wonderful Thanksgiving Doors await!

Decorating your door for Thanksgiving is a little harder than Halloween or Christmas. But what better way to say "Welcome - Come on in!" to family and friends that will be joining you on this most special of days! The day we bow our heads, and give thanks for our bounty - our food, our homes, our family and our friends. This day for sharing all that we have been Blessed with.

Welcome to our Home

This year I made a little banner.
(Good thing these doors are 8 feet high!)

I've had this terra cotta turkey for . . . forever!

I don't carve my pumpkins for Halloween any more.
This way they last all the way thru Thanksgiving!
(Can you spot the two fakes? hehehe)

The wreaths are my Fall wreaths,
with a little vintage postcard slipped inside

I found those huge leaves at Hobby Lobby! :)
(BTW - I was told a secret - that Hobby Lobby
might be coming to California! WHOO HOOO!)

Well, I know you have more Doors to visit . . . go ahead! Thanks for stopping by! And don't forget to come back on December 15th for the final installment of"Doors of Welcome".
