New Bloggerette!

I have to put in my
two cents about mammograms.
Good Grief Women!
At least mine never have.

Your parents, your husband, your siblings,
your kids, your grandkids and your friends
will be glad you did.

Now on to the Sorority news.
I know, I know we have
 had lots of new Bloggerettes
join since the Rush.
But Marilou from Lulu's Lovlies
She wanted to RUSH!
So Rush she did.
She is sharing her creation
with all of us so be sure
to go visit her and
welcome her to the Sorority.
I can't wait!

In the meantime . . . we are getting ready to jump in the Coach and are heading up to Paso Robles this weekend with Joy and Dale for the Harvest Crush in wine country. WHOO HOO!!!!!!! If you have never been during the crush - you are missing out. The smell is FABULOUS! Sigh.

But first - I have to go back to the podiatrist on Thurs morning. And yes - I cannot believe I am going to do it, but I am going to ask for cortizone shots in both feet. My feet hurt so bad; I'm doing everything he told me. They were so good for about 2 weeks and then - POOF. It all came back.
So . . . Me . . . Karen . . .
the biggest
in the world,
is going to ask for one of the
most painful shots known to mankind.

That should tell you
how much my feet hurt. :(
(I hope I don't kick him.
That happened before.
How embarrassing!)

But - I'll have some wine over the weekend and all will be well with the world. (I just hope I can walk!)

I have bursitis in my hips and the Ortho Dr told me I would know when it was bad because I would come in and beg for cortisone shots, so I understand Good luck and have a safe trip

Oh, I pray it won't hurt too bad! Have fun in the beautiful wine country...I am so wishing I was with you!!

Ohhhh, that sounds awful! I don't have a very high tolerance for pain (and my mamos do hurt, SQUISH, **wink** but I do go every year without fail)

We had our wine crush a couple of weekends ago up in Plymouth!!

Have FUN!!!

Oh you poor thing....I too like Jo have bursitis and have had to take cortisone shots, not fun at all but oh how much better you will feel.....I will be thinking of you and praying all goes well...enjoy the beautiful wine country and weather in Cali... I am a new follower, found your site through B.J.'s safe!

Well not everyone is the same and my mammograms hurt like heck! But I get them anyway. Do you have plantar fascitis? Be really careful of those cortisone shots. They stay in your body a really long time and can make your bones brittle. Hope you feel better soon.

My mammograms kill!! But you have to do it. Thanks for that PUSH!! Now you must take care of those feet. I have no problem with needles...weird, I know. I had a cortisone shot in my shoulder once and my pain immediately went away and never came back!

Have fun in Wine Country!!

CHERI said...

Sorry, Karen, but I have to beg to differ with you...I (not you) am the greatest hater of needles in the world! Just ask my husband...I've embarrassed him more than once. I have also began having problems with my feet but haven't been to the dr. yet. What is wrong with yours? Also may have bursitis in my shoulder but am just trying to deal with it. The thought of a cortisone shot scares me beyond senseless!!!! I have had mammos that hurt and ones that don't, but the pain isn't so bad that I wouldn't do it again. I think the bigger you are, the more they can hurt...or so I've been told!

Theresa said...

Well I just had a cortisone shot in my shoulder and it wasn't bad at all! AND my shoulder feels so much better. I hope your shots don't hurt and that your tootsies feel mucho better!

Love you! T

Just think of happy thoughts while getting the crushing grapes! Enjoy your trip to wine country and drink one for me...

Oh you poor thing!I can sympathize with the fear of needles. I have had three injections in my knee in the last two months and I am terrified of needles. Honest to God, it was not that bad. The last guy did a wonderful job and he told me he was terrified to get it done himself but he sure was a pro. I sure am doing better and was able to get through a trip to Prague and Croatia!
I have wanted to be a bloggerette since you started but I cannot get going. I have the picture all run off and have what I want to make in mind but I have been overwhelmed with other things. What does it means that she is :rushing" in this sorority as opposed to the others who just joined.

Oh, Karen! I'm so sorry! I was just about to have to get that done to my feet (horrible heel spurs) years ago...then they just started getting better! I'm a huge hater of needles, I can just imagine the pain you're in if you're ready & wanting to do this! Hope it goes well--I'm sure it will!

Thanks for the new Bloggerette introduction--I'll pop on over and say hi!

Hope your weekend is wonderful--that's one of my favorite areas--I love driving through there!

Oh no! I've heard those are painful...but I totally understand foot pain! It's horrible!
Good luck, I hope it helps. And, just in case, if you drink enough won't even know you can't walk! :)

Girl, I feel for you. I've had a cortisone shot in my wrist. It hurts like the dickens, but so worth it. As a nurse, I agree, GET A MAMMOGRAM!! But I will disagree with the not hurting theory. As a large breasted woman, I found it to be pretty painful, but less scary than the unknown.

Robin Sanchez said...

I did have a cortisone shot in my wrist once and the pain went away....and never came back. I dont remember that it hurt that bad but almost passed out. Just dont look.

I have been having maograms for years.....they just squish more than hurt.

Have fun on your trip

Uh - - - about the mammograms not hurting. Let me just say, if yours don't hurt, you are fortunate indeed.

Mine feel like a semi truck parked on my boob, and as I'm gasping for breath trying not to pass out - - -she says, "Please hold still."

And then, in my case (and many others besides) the mammo ISN'T the end - - - they always see more which requires an ultra sound, which does not hurt but is also not covered by insurance or a biopsy.

Then, the result is always, for me at least, a "normal abnormality."

And I had my first two babies without ANY anesthesia, and that DIDN'T hurt, so I don't think I'm a pain wimp.

I'm just sayin' - - - - for many of us, the mammo is pure torture. P. U. R. E.

So sorry your feet are still hurting you. I can't imagine. You have been away again and what fun it looks like you had!! You girls are so talented and make such pretty things. I enjoy seeing what you've made each time I visit.

Have a good weekend! Connie

Oh Karen, that sounds excruciatingly painful. I think you will need to drink plenty of wine on that fabulous trip, apparently it helps to deaden the pain ;-)
I'll be thinking of you on Thursday and holding your hand in spirit.

I had a cortisone shot years ago in my knee. It hurt, but it wasn't all that bad. It sure helped.
Just remember what a neat reward you have waiting for you...the trip in your coach.
I had my mammo in April and the hospital had a new machine. It didn't squish at all.
Take care.

Hope you & Joy have a blast. You two have more fun than anyone I know. Sandy comes in a week!!!! I can't wait. Wish you & Joy were coming too. :( But, I'm dreaming of Round Top Spring 2011 when we will all be together having a BLAST! Oh you poor thing with those darn feet acting up. Mine flared up after Round Top & I've been hobbling around like an OLD LADY! HUGS!

I am so sorry your feet are causing you so much trouble. The shots do help, my mom had them in her knees for years. I don't envy you...I'll say a little prayer.

Have a great trip, it sounds like a fun weekend.

I hope the shots help you Karen! Enjoy your trip to the fullest though.

Anitra Cameron said...

Well, darn. I'd hoped your feet were better already.

If I were you, I'd drink a lot of wine BEFORE the shot! I hate needles, too, to the point of flinching from a hypo that didn't even have a needle on it. (They were taking my picture for some medical publication article on diabetes, years and years ago.)

Hi Karen,
Your poor little feet!
Your trip coming up sounds just wonderful! Have a glass of wine for me and rest up your poor little tootsies!
I'll be rocking a baby to sleep!
Big Hugs,

PS Be sure to ice you feet after the shots, it helps with the swelling if you have any. :)
